Southern California Harbor Succulents

Succulent Landscape Installation
Home located about 1 mile inland from the beach in Southern California.

This was a brand new home construction with lots of things to consider when working on this design.  The right side of the house which faces North and had an adjacent home only 10 feet away getting very little sunlight.
During the summer the side of the home only receives about an hour of light.
Quite the challenge when working with succulents.

Hybrid Bromeliads were a great pick and came in many colors.  These hybrid Bromeliads do not die off after flowering like the common variety found in local stores.  They thrive in the shade and filtered sun.  We also planted different varieties of Aeoniums which are also thriving.

Added a bit of fake grass in the back end in case the dog has to relieve herself.

A large piece of Driftwood which reminded me of a Seahorse on its back, along with white Creeva and blue glass added to the ocean theme.  (Schattzi approved of the look)

The front of the home we had areas on either side of the driveway to deal with.  The right side the driveway is adjacent to the neighbors planter, so we had to make it flow into their planter.  Luckily there are a lot of mature palms that framed our succulent garden.

To the left of this planter, we were dealing with a very unsightly large utility box, a very tall electric box on a pole and the cable and telephone boxes mounted to the neighbors home.
Basically we just ignored it all and worked around it.

Potted Plants were placed at the front gate, at the front door and also on the back deck.  All are thriving after 1 year.  These are watered only occasionally.
